“I was at my park model in Southern Aire RV Resort in the NE corner of Tampa, Florida when I had a fall. I knew I had broken something. I had been living with Osteogenesis imperfecta (brittle bone disease). Within minutes, my neighbors had me in their car and on the way to the local hospital ER room at Advent Health Hospital in Tampa. I gave SkyMed a call at this time. My x-ray results showed I had broken several ribs and injured my scapula. The ER doctor told me that I needed surgery and asked if I would prefer to have it at my home in Canada. SkyMed arranged a commercial flight on Air Canada for me to return home and flew friends down to Florida to drive my car back. After my home orthopedic examined me, he said that I didn’t need surgery as my breaks would heal on their own. I did the biggest happy dance imaginable for someone with broken bones in her body. Once home, I recuperated by staying with my neighbor for a week and then lived in my recliner for the next month.”
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? “I learned about SkyMed when I listened to one of their presentations and chose to become a member under the yearly plan. I upgraded to a five-year plan when a friend of mine and I attended a later presentation.”
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? “I have already been telling others about SkyMed. SkyMed will get your RV home. I have also made copies of my SkyMed paper and handed it out to my friends. I wouldn’t be without a SkyMed Membership. SkyMed flies you home.”
Do you have any tips to share on ‘how to’ survive a life challenge? “Take one day at a time! Figure out each day what you can do and do not overdo it. Pace yourself.”
