William ‘Dale’ Wright, and his wife, Janice, began a full-time adventure and headed to the Balloon Fest in Albuquerque, NM. Prior to their departure, Jan had contracted Covid-19, and after hospitalization and treatment, she received permission from medical authorities to go on their planned trip. After the Balloon Fest, the couple traveled across the lower states to Frostproof, FL. During this trip, Janice began to experience trouble breathing although she had been on oxygen since recuperating from Covid-19. They arrived in Florida on a Monday and on Tuesday morning, she was worsening. Dale took her to the ER at the Advent Health Hospital in Sebring, FL. She was immediately admitted as her oxygen level was at 85% and was continuing to fall. She was admitted to ICU and further tests concluded that she had fibrosis of the lung, a very serious disease, complicated by the effects of Covid-19. After consulting with medical personnel, realizing there was no treatment available and her condition was not stable enough to be transported home to Illinois, Dale called SkyMed Member Services. SkyMed provided round-trip transportation for one support family or friend to be with him. Mendy, his daughter then drove to Florida and shared the financial remuneration to include her three siblings who came with her to be by their mothers’ side.
Jan passed away on Saturday morning and SkyMed arranged to take her body home to Metropolis, IL. SkyMed arranged for Dale and his children to return home as well. In addition, after Jan’s funeral, SkyMed provided financial means for Dale to return to Florida where he wintered during the following months.
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? “Several years back,” states Dale, “Jan and I attended a Jayco International RV Rally in Amana Colonies at which time we learned of the services offered by SkyMed. Jan was very influential in our decision to become SkyMed Members and we signed up on the Five-Year ULTIMATE plan because we liked to go on extended trips and cruises.”
