SkyMed received a call from Claire LaBonte, stating that her husband had a heart attack and had been taken to the Arcadia, FL hospital. The Arcadia hospital was not able to provide the help Armand needed. It was necessary for Armand to be flown via emergency helicopter to a hospital in Sarasota, FL, where clot busters could be administered and he could have surgery. To their dismay, the LaBontes discovered that neither of their health insurance carriers would pay for Armand’s emergency transport. Fortunately, SkyMed covers hospital-to-hospital transports under exactly the LaBonte’s circumstances, and paid the cost of the full cost of the emergency transport.
