“SkyMed played a critical role in my care, arranging my transport from San Miguel, Mexico to Albuquerque, New Mexico,” shares Barbara Luboff. “I truly believe their assistance saved my life.”
Doctors at the local hospital had identified “something” on Barbara’s CT scan and were preparing to perform surgery to remove part of her colon. Fortunately, that “something” was later diagnosed as a grapefruit-sized abscess. Had surgery been performed at that time, it could have caused serious harm or even proved fatal.
Barbara was hospitalized in Albuquerque from December 27 through January 9, where she received treatment for diverticulitis, the abscess, and a drug-resistant E. coli infection. Upon her discharge, she needed to remain in a care facility to continue intravenous antibiotics for the infection.
“As a SkyMed member, the team went well beyond my expectations,” says Barb. “Given the circumstances, they arranged for my daughter to accompany me on both the flight to the United States and the return trip. Their support throughout this experience was exceptional, and I am deeply grateful.”
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? “I explain how ill I was to my friends and how SkyMed got me to my home hospital and basically saved me. I am so grateful. Thank goodness I had signed up for a membership. Words cannot express how thankful I am for SkyMed’s incredible service.”
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? “I attended a SkyMed seminar in San Miguel because I wanted to find out more about how it worked. I was too old to be able to get affordable health insurance to cover me in Mexico. I was so impressed with what I learned, I signed up as a member right away.”
Do you have any tips to share on ‘how to’ survive a life challenge?
“If you are a snowbird or an XPat in Mexico and you have access to health insurance back home in the USA or Canada, all I have to say is you ought to get a SkyMed plan!”
