Keith and Jan Gunn

Keith and Jan Gunn

“My husband, Keith, fell and broke his hip while he was recovering from a previous fall which broke his pelvis,” states Jan Gunn. “He had his first surgery in Hospital MAC in San Miguel, Mexico and decided to fly home to Kaiser Permanente hospital in Oakland, CA for the second surgery which necessitated a new hip.

We called SkyMed who arranged for an ambulance to take my husband and me from Hospital MAC to the Queretaro private plane airport where we were met by a medical jet, two pilots, a doctor and a medical assistant. We flew to the Oakland private plane location and were met by an ambulance.  The doctor and medical assistant accompanied us to Kaiser hospital. This was all done very professionally. I continued to stay in touch with SkyMed’s personnel who were very helpful and sympathetic when doctors advised against Keith flying back in what was the SkyMed “return window”. When Keith was finally given a release, we booked a return flight and SkyMed paid for the taxi from our hotel to the Oakland airport including our airfare and taxi ride back to our home in San Miguel. We were more than pleased with our interaction and relationship with SkyMed and renewed our membership ten months early just so we didn’t forget!  I have praised SkyMed to many others and hope that they will take advantage of the protection that SkyMed offers.”

How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? “We signed up after attending a SkyMed presentation at Geek and Coffee in San Miguel de Allende.”

What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? “100% satisfaction; I have recommended the idea of signing up to become members to many of my friends.”

Do you have any tips to share on ‘how to’ survive a life challenge? “SkyMed gave us the choice to have surgery in Mexico or return to the US. My husband’s two falls were severe enough that it was deemed that the Chief of Surgery at the Northern California Kaiser Surgery Center be his surgeon. He is now walking unaided at 83 years old after two disastrous falls. Without having SkyMed, (which I might add, we feel is reasonably priced), the outcome might not have been as successful.  Thanks, SkyMed!”
