Alan Fielding and Cathy Baeshore
“We will be forever grateful to the entire team at SkyMed, especially their Member Services team,” says Cathy Baeshore. “My husband, Alan Fielding, was recovering in Mexico from a micro discectomy – a very simple surgery that he had decided to have done locally. However, as time progressed, he could not walk. We knew there had to be something wrong. Although the surgery itself was successful, it was later discovered that my husband had bacteria on the surgery site. It caused a serious bone infection in his spine, which could cause death, and my husband decided to return to the U.S. for treatment. He could not walk at that point or get out of bed; the pain was excruciating.”
“We got in contact with SkyMed. They were always accessible and caring. Because my husband could not walk and was in excruciating pain, they arranged for a Learjet to take us back to Tucson, AZ. The air ambulance had a nurse and a paramedic to try to keep him comfortable. It can take 24 to 48 hours to get a charter flight; however, SkyMed was on top of it! The doctor signed the fit to fly papers at 4 pm and by the next morning, at 10 am, the ambulance was at the hospital to take us to the airport. SkyMed took his condition seriously and was able to expedite the plane.”
How did you find out about SkyMed? “We found out about SkyMed when we first started going down to Mexico. A local SkyMed representative explained that SkyMed Memberships offer 18 different services and provide peace of mind while traveling. We signed up right away, and we are so glad that we did. We were hoping never to use it, which is the best-case scenario.”
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? “My husband was in the hospital for 10 days and recovered in rehab. I encourage all my friends to get SkyMed. It only takes one event to make you realize the value of it.”
