Joseph Sweeney
Alberta, Canada
My husband Joseph was having a hard time breathing and was admitted to Banner Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. Test results confirmed he was suffering from congestive heart failure and atrial fibrillation with a low oxygen level. His blood pressure was very high and a heart murmur was found. He also had a leaky valve and could not have surgery here and needed to go home to Alberta, Canada. That’s when I called SkyMed. I talked to Nan first and explained it all and SkyMed took over and I never had another worry.
They made Joseph feel so comfortable and notified all of the family of his condition and the time they would be landing. The doctor said he needed to go home to Canada and not by air ambulance because he was on oxygen and his blood pressure was out of control. But the circumstances changed, as happens frequently with our health, and an air ambulance turned out to be the safest and fastest way to get him home. When the doctor gave the okay for the flight, SkyMed arranged the flight and Joseph arrived safely and was in the care of the hospital in Alberta that evening.
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? We heard about SkyMed at Orangewood Shadows RV Resort in Mesa a couple of years ago. I thought it was a great thing to have because if I’m in Canada and need help, I can call SkyMed and they’ll bring me home. I got it for Joseph because he’s here six months and I go to Canada with him.
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? I have told everyone that if they don’t have it they’re really missing out. The activity director here brought SkyMed in at a monthly coffee meeting and I thought: “This is good!” I found out SkyMed is fantastic and decided to purchase a membership. I couldn’t believe it was as good as it was.
