While wintering in Donna, Texas in March of 2014 my wife Dorothy began having back pain and had difficulty walking. We took her to the hospital and test results confirmed she had a lower lumbar fracture and a form of blood cancer. We knew we needed to get her home to Colorado and a friend of ours called SkyMed for us and explained what was happening.
SkyMed began making arrangements right away to transport Dorothy from Texas to Colorado and I was able to go with her on the air ambulance flight. As soon as we landed an ambulance was waiting to take her to the hospital. We left behind our RV, car, and two dogs. SkyMed paid to fly our daughter to Texas and she and our son-in-law drove the RV with our car in tow and our two dogs aboard back to Colorado. SkyMed later reimbursed them for fuel and miscellaneous expenses.
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? We met Doug and Shirley Palmer at a Holiday Rambler event in 2004 and they introduced us to SkyMed. We were traveling a lot back then and didn’t want to have any travel worries. We thought SkyMed was a great deal and was just what we needed so we signed up that day and have been members ever since.
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? We have recommended SkyMed to several people because it is reasonable in cost, they make all the arrangements and we pay nothing out of pocket. We never expected something like this would happen to us but when it did, SkyMed took care of everything to get my wife home to Colorado. Unfortunately Dorothy passed away about a month later and although I miss her I still live in Texas during the winter months and still recommend SkyMed to anyone who travels.
