When Roy developed double vision on Christmas Eve, we faced a number of scary tests and unknowns. As a gifted 28-year elementary teacher in mostly inner city schools, Ray was used to working with difficult situations. But after teaching countless children how to read, he couldn’t read himself. Nor could he drive.
As a wife, mom, grandmother, and the closest-at-hand daughter for my parents, I was used to caring for others. An author, speaker, and teacher, I was used to making difficult decisions. As someone who had grown up in an RVing family I was accustomed to doing the lines, putting in anti-freeze, driving some of the time. But when Roy needed to back into a tight situation or a place where a vehicle or child could jump into a blind spot, I was the one who stood behind, watching. I hadn’t backed into those tight spots myself. Roy did that.
When we signed up for SkyMed we hoped we would never have to use it. Yet the unexpected happened. As we faced countless decisions and unknowns, we knew the Lord would go ahead of us and be with us. But when everything felt overwhelming, he used Jim Edwards of SkyMed to say, We’re here for you when you need us. Just relax and don’t worry. We’re here to make things easier for you.”
For two people who are accustomed to caring for others, we’ve found it heartwarming to have SkyMed care about us.
