SkyMed Member Transported via Helicopter
to Heart Hospital
Longtime SkyMed Members, Vicky and Lewis Harding, living in their RV, were camp hosts in a Missouri State Park. Lewis had returned from checking some onsite buildings and wasn’t feeling well. After convincing him to get checked out, Vicky drove him to the hospital in Lebanon, MO. EKG test results showed that Lewis was having a heart attack. Since this hospital was a small facility, it was necessary to fly Lewis to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO, one hour away. As her love of 57 years was being flown to Springfield, Vicky followed in the car. It was at this time that she called SkyMed, who quickly interpreted what was happening and comforted Vicky by telling her, “Do what you need to do, and we’ll take care of the details.” The helicopter pilot soon called Vicky and let her know Lewis had arrived and was now in the heart lab. “Within a two-hour timeframe, Lewis had been in two hospitals, in an air transport, and had stints put in,” says Vicky. “He was sent home with a heart monitor and has since received a pacemaker. This all happened so quickly, we feel very blessed.”
How did you find out about SkyMed and why did you choose SkyMed? “We live in our RV full-time,” says Vicky. “Annually, we travel to south Texas where we had previously attended a SkyMed presentation and became Members. As we age, it becomes more important to be prepared. As is the habit with many seniors, and some not so senior, travel may take us anywhere. I simply wouldn’t travel without some kind of coverage. It comforts me to know I have the best, tried and true,
and to know that we will be able to experience SkyMed’s service no matter where we are.”
What would you tell your friends about your experience with SkyMed? “We have turned many people onto SkyMed when they hear about our situation and how quickly things transpired for Lewis. Every SkyMed Representative I’ve encountered has been positive, and courteous, and truly demonstrates they care about ‘us’. This was evidenced by my initial call when I was called ‘by name’ and told ‘not to worry about a thing’; and was instructed to ‘take care of my husband first,’” states
Vicky. “We will never be without SkyMed.”
