“I was hospitalized in St. Croix with an intestinal blockage from a flare-up of my Crohn’s disease,” said Rhonda Lee Motichek. “After 3 days of treatment my condition continued to deteriorate. The doctors told me the only option left was surgery, and scheduled me for the next day. My husband felt that it would be in my best interest if surgery could be avoided.
“(My husband) David placed a call to SkyMed to see if there were any options available to us to avoid surgery. The next day (surgery day), I was removed from the hospital and flown by SkyMed to Miami, FL. I was treated at the hospital in Miami for 23 days and because of this was able to avoid surgery.
“My overall opinion of the SkyMed service is that everything we went through with my illness was handled promptly and professionally. My family and I are especially grateful that I was able to avoid surgery.”
