My wife, Vicki, and I were vacationing at our timeshare in St. Maarten. We were on the tenth day of our vacation (of three weeks) when she fell while shopping and broke her left hip. She was seen at the local hospital ER and was informed that she would need surgery to repair the break, but they had no orthopedic doctor on the island.
I called SkyMed and talked to a wonderful, helpful guy named Jim Edwards. I asked him what I had to do and he said I had done the only thing I had to do and he would take care of the rest of the problem and it would be seamless. He did not lie.
The next day an ambulance picked her up at the hospital and transferred her to the waiting jet which was equipped with an RN and EMT. We were both flown to the airport near our home in Fredericksburg, Virginia and there was an ambulance waiting to transfer her to Mary Washington Hospital. She had a total hip replacement the next day and is doing great 10 days later thanks to our SkyMed membership and their helpful people.
