Ronald & Faye Jacobsen
Harlan, Iowa

While wintering in Harlingen, Texas in January of 2010, Ronald and Faye Jacobsen attended a SkyMed presentation at Sun Valley Acres Park. Faye said, “We listened to the presentation given by Doug and Shirley Palmer and we signed up for a five-year Ultimate membership, not knowing we would ever use it. I’m a diabetic but Ronald was never sick and was always in excellent health. I never dreamed he would be the one who would need SkyMed’s services.”

Ronald was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs. He was stable for several months, however, his health gradually declined and he passed away less than a year later. SkyMed took care of all the details and the costs to have their daughter, Lisa, flown from Alexandria, Virginia to Texas to be by her mother’s side and their son, Kevin, was flown in from Kansas City, Missouri to drive Faye and their vehicle back home to Iowa.

Faye said, “Ronald was very well liked by everyone at Sun Valley Acres Park and they hadn’t seen him since December and I felt it was my obligation to let them see him again. We had a viewing at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and a memorial service the next day while my children were still in Texas. Immediately afterwards, Ronald’s body was flown back to Iowa and everything was perfect when his body arrived. He looked so good and it was very touching that everyone got to see him. We were able to have two viewings, two memorials, and two dinners for everyone and the funeral was held in our home town of Harlan, Iowa.”

What would you tell you friends about your experience with SkyMed? “I would tell them that if they don’t sign up for SkyMed, they’re crazy, because you have the security of knowing you and your loved one will be taken care of and taken home in case of a critical illness or injury. When our children found out we were going to purchase SkyMed, they were very upset and my daughter said, ‘Mom, don’t you think we have enough money to get you home?’ But after the incident, she was completely surprised by all the services they provided. I’m so glad we went ahead and bought our membership that day because it was invaluable to have my children there with me to help during that time. We got way more out of the benefits than we paid for the membership fee because SkyMed not only took us home, but also our cat, our seven-passenger van, and our cargo trailer. I’m so pleased because SkyMed did everything!”
